Specializing in breakfast food in general and pancakes specifically, IHOP also offers a full menu range that includes traditional lunch and dinner fare. There are more than 1500 IHOP restaurants located throughout the US. Incidentally, the chain only recently began opening locations outside the States; the 'international' in its previous name referred to the fact that its menu includes pancake dishes inspired by countries the world over. IHOP was founded in Los Angeles, California in 1958.
