Duties:
* Works collaboratively with the Upward Bound core staff in developing and implementing a program recruitment strategy for a college preparatory program that serves low-income and/or first generation high school students at Big Island public high schools.
* Schedules and organizes recruitment events and activities.
* Prepares and conducts oral presentations for middle school and high school students, community fairs, and other events to encourage program enrollment.
* Represents the program at various events and meetings to provide information to prospective students regarding eligibility and program services.
* Creates and conducts special exhibits at community events, civic events, and target schools.
* Prepares and distributes correspondence, presentations, materials, and reports related to recruitment.
* Assists students with completing applications for admission into the program.
* Follows up on incomplete applications and assists students with obtaining documents required for the program admission.
* Gathers and analyzes data and prepares descriptive, statistical, and evaluative reports related to student recruitment.
* Meets monthly minimum quota for completed applications.
* Maintains liaison with counselors, faculty, and staff from target schools, community organizations, and social service agencies to facilitate enrollment into the program.
* Works with diverse populations of varying ages, education levels and cultural backgrounds.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in any field and one (1) year of professional work experience; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
* Possession of a valid driver's license, and ability to drive to Hawaii target schools.
* Demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently
* Demonstrates ability to follow oral and written instructions
* Demonstrates exceptional oral and written communication skills
* Demonstrates ability to engage and interact with the audience
* Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with other individuals
* Available to work evenings and weekends
Desired Qualifications:
* Successful experience working with an Upward Bound program or similar education equity program environment.
* Successful experience communicating with and working with high school students and parents.
* Personal experience overcoming academic and/or economic barriers similar to those typically encountered by the Upward Bound target population to attain a postsecondary education.
