The Patient Care Technician performs tasks supportive to delivery of patient care in assigned departments under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
The Patient Care Technician is a crucial member of the team in providing the best patient care alongside a registered nurse. Our technicians will be responsible for vitals at designated times during the shift, along with collecting blood sugars to report to the nurse they are working with. They will assist patients with toileting and hygiene throughout the course of the shift. They will assist patients with ambulation at times and be responsible for accurate account of intakes and outputs. The MST must be versatile, and willing to play their part in a teamwork dynamic.
The Multi Skilled Technician will be trained as a Cardiac Monitor Technician (CMT) and a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC). In the CMT position, they will watch the cardiac monitors for all patients on the unit and notify the nurse if a rhythm changes. In the HUC position they will answer patients call lights, complete consultation calls, manage the unit phone, and assist in paperwork for the shift. This is a versatile position, where the employee is able to fulfill either position when asked.
