Description WVU Alumni Relations is currently accepting applications for a Chapter and Interest Group Support CoordinatorAbout the OpportunityThe Chapter and Interest Group Support Coordinator implements and manages a program designed to provide meaningful alumni engagement, volunteer, and service opportunities for 75+ chapter and interest groups around the world to enhance loyalty, dedication, and support for West Virginia University. This position reports to the VP of Alumni Relations and collaborates with the West Virginia University Alumni Association team to engage alumni, current students, and friends of the University. This position will support the growth of chapters and interest groups, enhancing the quality and reach of relevant programming while representing the WVU brand throughout various regions. This engagement role supports initiatives that foster high quality, life-long relationships between the University and its alumni. Primary responsibilities include the support and delivery of regional programming that will build, develop, and sustain strong relationships to increase the engagement and connection between West Virginia University and its alumni.We strongly believe in work-life balance and keeping time for things we love outside our work. What you'll do:
- Facilitate meaningful opportunities for engagement, volunteerism and service.
- Serve as an available and flexible resource for alumni chapters and interest groups including collaboration with team members to support event marketing, board relations, chapter branding, communications, building a new group, navigating partnerships, etc.
- Responsible for managing and executing an engagement plan that encourages and fosters life-long relationships with WVU through events, volunteerism and programs.
- Collaborate with campus partners to deliver unique programming that supports lifelong engagement
- Collaborate with appropriate campus partners related to specific organizational needs identified by chapter and interest group leaders
- Recruit, train and steward alumni to serve as volunteers and leaders within regional chapters and interest groups.
- Organize and execute an annual Alumni Leaders Institute event to educate and inspire alumni chapter and interest group leaders.
- Provide support to in-person and virtual chapter and interest group events, assisting with event planning, risk management, program execution, etc..
- Collaborate with the Marketing Specialist to develop assets for chapters and interest groups.
- Facilitate ongoing training and learning opportunities for volunteer leaders, including virtual and in-person training sessions.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Specialist to develop a monthly educational newsletter to keep alumni volunteers informed and engaged.
- Collaborate with the Director of Development on volunteer fundraising efforts
- Collaborate with Marketing Specialist on necessary marketing materials related to chapter and interest group promotion.
- Assist alumni chapters and interest groups in devising roles and systems that foster active and sustainable engagement.
- Create programs and resources that support the goals and interests of alumni.
- Create a path for WVU graduates to seamlessly transition from the student to alumni community - primarily through connecting them with regional opportunities to engage with WVU alumni and friends.
- Collaborate with Marketing Specialist to communicate the success stories of chapters and interest groups to the greater alumni community.
- Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications and the Marketing Specialist to uphold the WVU brand by helping chapters and interest groups to appropriately use all WVU branding and trademark materials in their communications.
- Travel to serve in a support role and as a University representative at Alumni Association, chapter and interest group events and programs.
- Provide regular reports on the status and needs of volunteer organizations to the Vice President of Alumni Relations.
- Serve as a sounding board and makes recommendations for constant improvement based on feedback from alumni leaders.
- Oversee the chapter and interest group chartering process.
- Provide support as assigned to other alumni engagement initiatives.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate special events.
- Able to speak in public before large audiences.
- Able to organize resources and establish priorities.
- Able to provide exceptional customer service to alumni.

- Able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Able to work with diverse populations. Experience with event planning and execution
- A valid driver's license is required for travel to Alumni Association and University events and for regularly scheduled appointments that occur on the University ' s campus
