Location: Morgantown,WV, USA
West Virginia University Division of Forestry and Natural Resources is seeking applications for a Field Technician. The field technician will assist with trapping wild turkeys, fitting turkeys with GPS transmitters, monitor turkey survival/nesting, and collect associated environmental data. The technicians will also help with data entry/organization, and equipment upkeep. This position will work closely with individuals from WVU and the WV Division of Natural Resources.
What you'll do:
* Scout trapping locations
* Trap turkeys
* Monitor turkey survival and nesting

* Equipment upkeep
Pay Grade: 10
Length of Assignment: Approximately 6 months
* Associate's degree or coursework in wildlife biology, ecology, or related field
* 0- 6 months of related experience
* Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
* All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Ability to work both independently and part of a team
* Good communication skills
* Ability to work in harsh weather conditions and in difficult terrain
* Experience communicating with the public while in the field
* Basic knowledge of data entry in Excel
* Experience with telemetry (preferred)
