Hours include but are not limited to; Fri-Sun 12hrsFri-Sun 25hrsPer-diemPay Rate: $19.25/hourBenefits: All scheduled employees are eligible to participate in the 401k retirement plan Fulltime Staff are eligible for Medical ,Dental , Basic Life , Voluntary Life and LTD Primary Purpose:To provide direct care in a residential group home to participants with special needs in order to enable their highest quality of life in terms of their physical, emotional, and mental health while adhering to CCARC policies and procedures. This job is for a residence that communicates in American Sign Language with deaf or hard of hearing individuals and requires fluency or some experience communicating through American Sign Language.Essential Functions: Provides and receives effective, respectful, appropriate, and courteous verbal and written communications
- To and from specific teams related to the care of participants, including daily observations and reports of any physical or behavioral changes while adhering to all documentation and record keeping requirements
- With family members, guardians, DDS and external healthcare providers including coordinating health and hygiene-related appointments
Provides essential physical and emotional care to participants including
- Assisting with personal care, hygiene, and treatments including administration of medications, recording vital signs as needed, placing supply and medication orders
- Providing education to participants in personal hygiene, grooming, and behavioral conduct while acting as a role model to enhance participants' self esteem
- Coordinating and leading social and recreational activities as well as shopping for food and clothing, including the safe transportation of participants
- Coordinating General housekeeping as well as collecting and changing laundry
- Nutritional support: Monitoring residents at mealtime according to food consistency guidelines for each individual
Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures and responds appropriately to emergency situations Responsibly manages and records the use of household petty cash, food and house money and each individual's money according to the policies established by the CCARC, Inc. Board of Directors Collaborating to resolve conflicts, obstacles, and challenges, seeking guidance from manager and team members, as needed Demonstrates adherence to universal precautions, OSHA standards and infection control policies and procedures at all times, as well as department, home and shift procedures Maintain good daily attendance (days of absence, illness, tardiness) Attends and participates in mandatory in-services, staff meetings and conferences as requiredEducation and/or Work Experience Requirements: Fluency or moderate experience in ASL. High School Diploma/GED Must have a valid Driver's License, be insurable with Agency carrier. Previous experience working in a transitional program preferred. Good oral and written communication skills. Commitment to Person Centered Planning. Good computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Teams) and experience with Therap preferred.Certification and Training Requirements:Including but not limited to: PMT, CPR, First Aid, AED, DDS Medication Administration. If you do not currently have the required trainings CCARC offers PAID TRAININGS monthly in our Day Services building.Physical Requirements: Persons in this job must possess the physical and emotional health needed for effective and efficient completion of duties Individuals in this job are likely to be required to perform lifting and transferring activities and may be required to restrain residents /program participants; may be exposed to risk of injury from abusive/assaultive residentsWork location Kensington, CT with some required and paid trainings at Slater Road in New Britain, CT.
