Sampson County is seeking a passionate and innovative advocate to serve as the next Director for the Department of Social Services leading 150 plus employees serving in three program areas: Adult, Child, and Family Services; Child Support; and Economic Programs and Services. Working with a five-member Advisory Committee, this position reports directly to the County Manager acting on behalf of the Board of Commissioners.All applicants should possess a Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) and two years of supervisory experience in the delivery of client services; or a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and three years of supervisory experience in the delivery of client services, one of which must have been in Social Services; or graduation from a four year college or university and three years of supervisory experience in the delivery of client services, two of which must have been in Social Services; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Applicants must also understand the organizational structure of a department of social services and applicable county policy as well as state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.The ideal candidate will have relative demonstrated progressive leadership experience and extensive knowledge of management principles applicable to the operation of a human service delivery system. The start date for this position is January 1, 2025, with a beginning salary of $95,844 and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
