The University of Pennsylvania's Master of Health Care Innovation ( (MHCI) invites applications for a temporary part-time Course Coordinator, starting in late October 2021, for an engagement of 6 weeks. As a member of the instructional team, the Course Coordinator supports delivery for multiple concurrent high-quality online courses for working health care professionals. These include courses in the MHCI itself, as well as a related non-credit professional development track.The MHCI connects professionals through transformative learning experiences designed to improve health care. Faculty-drawn from across Penn-are leading experts in health policy, operations management, behavioral economics, innovation methodologies, health equity, and leadership. Students apply their MHCI experience immediately in their work as clinicians, executives, directors, researchers, entrepreneurs, consultants, and more. The program is based in the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy (MEHP) in the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM). RESPONSIBILITIES

The Course Coordinator ensures a consistent, supportive student experience across all courses by overseeing teams of Course Facilitators and Course Assistants and by providing critical perspective to the program's instructional designers. Responsibilities include:

+ Monitoring course team communications with students and providing advice as needed.

+ Responding to technical support requests from students.

+ Assigning grading to course team members, and monitoring grading progress.

+ Serving as a host and moderator for faculty-student interactions, including synchronous classes and asynchronous Q&As.

+ Working with program managers to track individual student needs and extenuating circumstances.

+ Gathering insights about student progress and providing advice and recommendations to instructional designers, as well as the broader online education team.

This position averages 15-20 hours/week, mostly during ordinary work hours. It does include on-call hours in the evenings and on weekends, on a rotating basis. Time spent on call usually does not exceed 2 hours in a week. The MEHP Online Education team typically works on-campus, functions remotely when mandated, and will continue to follow Department, School, and University policies on work location during the pandemic.

QUALIFICATIONS

The temporary part-time Course Coordinator is consistent and reliable, and possesses:

+ Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks within a limited number of hours.

+ The ability to make timely, independent decisions based on guiding principles and relevant context.

+ The ability to manage, monitor, and provide feedback to a team of Course Facilitators and Assistants.

+ The ability to work effectively with university faculty, graduate students, and full-time health care professionals.

+ The ability to communicate promptly, professionally, and respectfully with students, Course Facilitators and Assistants, staff, and faculty through Slack, email, Smartsheet, and other technologies.

+ Familiarity with Canvas or equivalent learning management systems.

Experience working in higher education is preferred. A bachelor's degree and 2-3 years' experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is strongly preferred.Work is available starting in late October 2021, for an engagement of 6 weeks.
