PASSPORT SCHOOL PROGRAM is an Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio program located in Geauga County, Ohio

Passport School Program serves PK-12 students with profound multiple disabilities and medically fragile conditions within a day treatment facility.

Classroom Educational Aide (PARA-PROFESSIONAL)

The Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio is seeking interested and qualified candidates for a Para-Professional position assigned to Passport School Program located at the Metzenbaum Center, Board of Developmental Disabilities facility for the 2023-2024 school year.

Full time employment 8:00 - 4:00 Monday through Friday 7.5 hours daily located at Passport School Program, Metzenbaum Center Bainbridge Ohio.

The assignment is a 1:1 Health Aide for a self-contained specialized resource classrooms serving school age students with severe to profound cognition, communication, social, emotional needs and delays. Experience serving students who are medically fragile and have significant educational and physical delays and needs in a residential setting.

Experience or extensive knowledge and skill set needed in a separate facility, resource classroom setting. Working collaboratively with multiple staff members and families and school districts

Appropriate license and criminal background check required. Candidates must be eligible to obtain certification through the Ohio Department of Education.

Under supervision of the special education teacher, provides support to the academic program and instructional activities under the guidance of the assigned teacher. Assists in supervision of students throughout the day including lunch, arrival/departure, rest periods, electives, field trips etc. Implements prescribed behavior plans, mealtime procedures helps feed student(s), IEP goals, specific accommodations, student mobility, assistive and/or augmentative devices. Assists the student(s) in the classroom and as needed with behavior management, and/or physical tasks such as using materials or equipment, using the restroom, positioning, and lifting students with physical disabilities. Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.

Physical requirements include, but are not limited to: kneeling, possibly for extended periods of time on hard surfaces, bending, twisting, and holding.

Ability to physically assist students with disabilities - minimum 50 pounds (e.g., mobility, transferring, positioning, etc.).

Applicant maintains necessary certification for CPR, First Aid and CPI's Non-violent Crisis Intervention Training.
