POSITION: DIRECTOR OF FOOD SERVICEREPORTS TO: Associate Superintendent / Director of Finance FLSA: Classified ExemptEMPLOYMENT TERMS AND SALARY: Salary and benefits as determined by the Board of Education.BENEFITS:

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: BS or equivalent educational experience, with academic major in specific areas or Bachelor's degree in any academic major, and State-recognized certificate for school nutrition directors or Bachelor's degree in any academic major and at least 2 years of relevant school nutrition programs experience; or Associate's degree or equivalent educational experience, with academic major in specific areas and at least 2 years of relevant school nutrition programs experience.
  • REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Proficiency in WORD, EXCEL and Google Docs, computer software, and other technology used by the district.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with food vendors, staff, students, parents, and administration.
  • ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (Include, but are not limited to) PERSONNEL
  • Coordinates, supervises and manages food service for school district.
  • Supervises, evaluates and schedules staff to efficiently run district food service program.
  • Trains managers and other food service workers in all aspects of food preparation and cleanliness.
  • Works with the Human Resources Office to seek applicants and handle employee discipline as needed.
  • Administers personnel policies consistent with the school district and USDA standards.
  • Establishes standards for food preparation and service with emphasis on creative and appetizing appeal, appearance, and flavor with maximum nutritional value.
  • Works with Department of Education Nutrition Services Team to meet USDA School Nutrition regulations and guidelines.
  • Cooperates with custodial and maintenance departments in planning for, care and maintenance of supplies, equipment, and facilities
  • NUTRITION EDUCATION
  • Administers the district school lunch program as a practical application of sound nutrition and as a means of improving health and nutritional habits of students.
  • Works with administrators to provide expertise and assistance, where appropriate, in classroom nutrition instruction.
  • MANAGEMENT
  • Handles all aspects of the district food service budget.
  • Oversees record management and required reports to administer Federal and State programs.
  • Possesses knowledge of Food Inventory Control, Nutrition, and Menu Design.
  • Purchase and replace equipment as needed working with Maintenance on specifications.
  • OTHER
  • Interprets through committee work, public presentations, and/or news media the aims and objectives of the district food service program.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Director of Finance or the Superintendent.
