Qualifications:
- Caring, compassionate, and understanding
- Have a high school diploma, GED diploma or active registry status on the Pennsylvania nurse aide registry
- 18 years of age or older
- Excellent customer service and hospitality skills
- Nurse Aides with Medication Administration responsibilities will need additional qualifications:
1) successful completion of the DPW-approved medications course that includes the passing of the DPW's performance-based competency test within the past 2 years to be able to administer oral, topical, eye, nose and ear drop prescription medication, and epinephrine injections for insect bites or other allergies 2) Successful completion of a DPW-approved diabetes patient education program within the past 12 months to be able to administer insulin injections Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Assists with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) consistent with resident support plan by assisting residents with eating and drinking, ambulating, transferring, toileting, bladder and bowel management, personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, turning and positioning, and documenting the care that was provided. 2. Assists with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) consistent with resident support plan by assisting residents with doing laundry, using a telephone, caring for personal possessions, changing linens, obtaining and keeping clean, seasonal clothing, using a prosthetic device, keeping a safe, neat, clean room, and transporting to activities. 3. Completes over-the-counter treatments per printed instructions in the ADL/treatment book by reading what treatment is ordered for the resident, providing the correct treatment in a timely manner, and documenting that the treatment was done. 4. Answers resident call bells for assistance by responding to the call bell in 4 minutes or less, knocking before entering resident room, prioritizing resident needs, addressing resident need, and turning call bell off. 5. Assists residents in accessing health care by communicating important resident observations, findings, and problems to the Charge Nurse in a timely and proactive manner. 6. Protects residents from abuse by knowing the definitions of abuse, knowing the signs that abuse may be occurring, knowing what to do if sees abuse happening, immediately reporting any signs of abuse to supervisor, and employing health means for dealing with personal stress. 7. Commits to high ethical standards by complying with the Code of Conduct, state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, Concordia policies, procedures, and safety standards, and HIPAA rules for maintaining confidentiality of resident/employee records and information. Has a duty to report compliance concerns, significant legal risk questions, fraud, abuse, suspected or actual misconduct to a supervisor/manager or to the Corporate Compliance Officer. 8. Prevents infections while providing care by employing adequate hand-washing, adhering to all aspects of transmission-based precautions, and complying with all infection control policies and procedures. 9. Nurse Aides With Med Tech Responsibilities Primary responsibility is to assist with Medication Administration consistent with resident support plan by identifying the correct resident, measuring vital signs if indicated by the prescriber's order, removing medication from the original container, crushing or splitting the medication as ordered by the prescriber, placing medication in a medication cup or other appropriate container, or in the resident's hand, mouth, or other route, and completing documentation. 10. Commits to high ethical standards and complies with the Code of Conduct, state and federal regulations, accreditation standards and Concordia policies and procedures. Maintains confidentiality of resident and employee records and information. Has a duty to report compliance concerns, significant legal risk questions, fraud, abuse, suspected or actual misconduct to management or to the Corporate Compliance Officer.
