The division supplies stamped metal fasteners and engineered fastener assemblies that leverage our deep-draw stamping technologies. The annual revenue for the division is approximately $160M. In addition to ITW's industry leading research and development capabilities, StampTech Fasteners TM enhances our customers' competitive advantage by maintaining advanced engineering and manufacturing facilities in North America, exchanging product, process, and benchmarking information with sister units worldwide and continually improving processes, material, and designs to ensure every product provides value and meets customer expectations.In this position, the Production Tool Maker will set up and maintain production of automotive stampings in Eyelet and/or Progressive stamping presses such as Minster presses up to 200 ton, Baird & Asahi presses, and Waterbury Farrels to produce precision metal parts, instruments, and tools.Key ResponsibilitiesFollow all established safety, health and company policies, procedures, housekeeping and recognized practicesInstall/setup of existing tooling & adjusting print tolerances for high volume production runsSet up and adjust tooling in production equipment, submit first piece samples, maintain tool logs, production documentation, and follow quality proceduresPerform maintenance on tooling and use toolroom equipment to sharpen or fabricate tooling as requiredDiagnose machine failures and other mechanical problems. Take necessary corrective repair action in a timely manner.Assist and instruct machine operators and apprentices to maintain production.Operate production equipment as required.Ensuring products meet quality standards and make necessary adjustmentsTrouble shooting, tool maintenance and repair throughout the runAsist in corrective actions and improving tooling where necessaryDeveloping new tooling for new partsAll other duties as assigned by manager3-5 years of industrial experience or enrollment in the Tool and Die Apprenticeship from an accredited vocational/technical instituteMechanical aptitudeAbility to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practicesEffectively communicates in a professional demeanorWorks collaboratively in a team environmentDemonstrate good problem-solving skills and possess communication skillsAbility to work overtimePhysical Demands & Work EnvironmentThe physical demand described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
