What you will do:
- This job consists of performing duties required to install, repair, or replace the electrical circuitry, electrical test equipment and electrical components of units being assembled, repaired, or tested.
- Work under the specific direction of engineers or technicians on jobs as assigned by shift supervision.
- Typical daily functions include:
- Following company provided lock out tag out training
- Supporting product testing with power connections to the facility wiring and troubleshooting electrical issues
- Installing and commissioning new electrical equipment
- Performing facility equipment repairs and maintenance
- Carrying out voltage tap changes on VFD drives
- Building electrical enclosures
Electricians will train and transfer knowledge to other electricians when required to support all electrical operations needed to support efficient operations of the Test Lab as outlined in this job description.
How you will do it:
- Teamwork is essential for success. Electricians need to work cooperatively with co-workers, engineering team members, and leadership to facilitate efficiently finishing daily tasks and meeting project goals consistently.
- Critical thinking is key element to support being successful in this role. Electricians are required to address problems when identified and follow through to support resolution, or a corrective action is reached.
- Must be alert when working within the confines of electrical panels with high voltages
- Must be able to work from drawings and understand standard electrical schematic symbols.
- Able to understand and work from test request documents, sketches, procedures, emails, and manufacturers specifications.
- Be familiar with Electrical codes.
- Capable of executing instructions outlined in Lab Information Management System.
- Perform electrical hook-ups required for testing. Inspect, service repair, replace or make initial installation of any electrical service or item.
- Work with power line voltage, balance electrical leads, prepare and run conduit.
- Install or replace solid state or logic circuitry. Make electrical calculations, determine power factor, kilowatts.
- Able to use typical tools of the trade such as, wire strippers, pliers, screw drivers, soldering irons, hand drills, ladders, and appropriate material handling equipment.
What we look for:
- Highly diversified work required to support of facility equipment includes such devices as fans, pumps, heaters, valves, controls, drives, instruments, data acquisition devices, and computers. Monitor gauges, dials, controls, sensors, instruments, and displays. Regulate flow rates, temperature controls, pressure controls, humidity controls, motor generator frequency, VSD frequency, motor/component speed/frequency control, and computer controls.
- Operations include working from drawings, schematics sketches, codes, instructions. Make electrical hook-ups required for testing, installation of hardware, testing and repairing of units, control panels. Inspect, service repair, replace or make initial installation of any electrical service or item. Work with power line voltage, balance electrical leads, prepare and run conduit. Install or replace solid state or logic circuitry. Make electrical calculations, determine power factor, kilowatts.
- Will have a depth of knowledge that will allow the Electrician to perform a basic level of troubleshooting and analysis of performance, communicating this information back to the Electrical Engineer as needed for support and guidance.
- Be aware of and understand the Health & Safety Policy. You have the responsibility to incorporate the Health and Safety concepts when carrying out procedures and work tasks. Initiate action to prevent non-compliance with legal or policy requirements. Identify potential hazards and recommend solutions and verify their implementation. Control activities until required changes are carried out. Act in emergencies. Provide resources if in a position to do so.
- Be aware of and understand the Environmental Policy. Follow work instructions and procedures to ensure compliance with the policy when they apply to your job responsibilities. Know the significant impacts the campus has on the environment. Know and follow emergency & evacuation procedures.
- Requires moderate physical efforts working continuously with lightweight materials when assembling, wiring, repairing, handling materials. Occasionally, might have to lift up to 50 Lbs.
- Could require travel to Grantley Plant in York PA which is less than 20 miles from New Freedom Lab.
- Training required: Completion of 120-day training program covering basic safety requirements, knowledge, and technical competencies to support electrical work required in the facility. Additional trainings may be required upon completion of this program.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years' experience required. Must be able to use tools and test equipment of the trade, ladders, appropriate material handling equipment. Journeyman level qualification desired.
