SUMMARY PURPOSEWork under the supervision of the Principal and Maintenance Supervisor to keep the school site clean both inside and outside of the buildings.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma is required
- Must be able to communicate both orally and in the written form
- Must be able to understand and interpret written and verbal instructions
- Ability to perform a variety of routine manual tasks in the care, cleaning and general maintenance of a facility and basic knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in custodial work.
- Must be able to stand, walk, reach, bend, climb, and lift up to 60lbs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
- Performs daily task and duties as assigned by the principal
- Open buildings in the morning; secure buildings in the afternoon/evening.
- Meets daily with the principal/supervisor concerning conditions of the physical plant
- Reports vandalism to principal and supervisor immediately.
- Maintains cleanliness of classrooms, halls, main entrance, office areas, teacher workrooms, restrooms, etc.
- Routine cleaning of buildings and grounds, such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and polishing floors, washing windows, moving furniture, and keep grounds clean.
- Removes all trash from classrooms, restrooms, office areas, teachers' workroom, etc.
- Requisition janitorial supplies and equipment as needed. Turn in list to Brenda Kleinpeter.
- Initiates work request through the principal/supervisor.
- Repairs, removes, and/or secures any unsafe equipment; reports same to principal
- Performs light maintenance functions and makes minor repairs including painting, replacing light bulbs, cleaning and replacing air condition filters.
- Climb ladders when performing certain assigned duties, i.e., washing windows, changing light bulbs, inspecting roofs and gutters, etc.
- Maintains the grounds around the school building which includes cutting, weed-eating, etching around the concrete walks, etc.
- Keeps school board owned tools and equipment working properly and responsible for all equipment assigned.
- Performs any other duties assigned by the principal, Supervisors and/or Superintendent.
