Delaware Area Career CenterTitle: STNA-Healthcare Technician Instructor (OPEN UNTIL FILLED)Reports to: High School PrincipalWork Schedule: 185-Day Contract Pro-Rated Teacher Contract (Begin January 6, 2025 or sooner)Hours will be 9:45 a.m. - 5:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday when students are in session; Hours will be 7:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. on Friday when students are not in sessionProgram Details: This is a Flexible Learning Options (FLO) program for High School Seniors. The STNA-Healthcare Technician Instructor will teach daily Health Technology courses to prepare students for the STNA examination. The daily class will run from 2:45 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. The STNA-Healthcare Instructor will provide instructional support for the other portion of the workday.Primary Job Function:
  • The Delaware Area Career Center Career-Technical Teacher is responsible for leading and developing student skills sufficient to qualify them for entry-level employment and/or post-secondary education. The Career-Technical Teacher will provide instruction and support in a variety of instructional settings according to DACC and state approved career-technical education courses of study and curriculum. This is also done through student-faculty engagement, fostering cooperation among students, active listening, timely feedback, high expectations and respecting diverse talents and learning styles of all students and other colleagues. Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Ohio CTE license or ability to obtain
  • Proper endorsements and/or certifications required by content area
  • Current, valid license as an RN or LPN in Ohio
  • RN's shall have a minimum of two years experience in caring for the elderly or chronically ill of any age, at least one of which must be in the provision of long-term care facility services
  • LPN's shall have a minimum of two years experience in caring for the elderly or chronically ill of any age obtained through employment in a long-term care facility
  • Current Ohio Department of Health STNA license or ability to obtain

  • Career-Tech teachers use comprehensive planning skills to design effective instruction focused on student mastery of DACC curriculum goals for Career Technical Education
  • Career-Tech teachers monitor workforce trends and training needs. They evaluate the relevance of new technology.
  • Career-Tech teachers will provide instruction that is appropriately paced and directed to specific occupational skills
  • Career-Tech teachers will instruct students in appropriate job-seeking and retention skills
  • Career-Tech teachers engage students in complex problem-solving and the exploring of ideas and issues in classroom activities.
Classroom Environment:
  • Career-Tech teachers maintain a classroom environment appropriate and engaging for career-technical education.
  • Career-Tech teachers create a classroom climate that promotes openness, mutual respect, support, and inquiry. This should be done through:

Student Assessment:
  • Career-Tech teachers will evaluate student progress and prepare necessary progress reports

  • Career-Tech teachers will assist in finding job placement for students who have been assessed as ready for job placement
  • Career-Tech teachers will follow the DACC assessment guidelines.

  • Career-Tech teachers will stay current with the latest technical and trade updates for the assigned subjects

  • Career-Tech teachers are responsible for?submitting?all reports and documentation to the appropriate department?as required by the district?

  • Teachers are responsible for planning and using appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and resources for e-learning according to guidelines established by DACC
