COFFEE COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM Job Description General Education Teacher Responsible to: Principal Director of Curriculum & InstructionQualifications:
Valid TN Teacher's License with appropriate endorsementsHighly Qualified status, as applicable, in areas of assigned instructionStrong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skillsCompetent technological skillsEssential Responsibilities:Prepares lesson plans and teaching strategies for course(s) of study taughtAligns both course(s) curriculum taught and/or assessments with state and local curriculum standardsUses a variety of teaching strategies to facilitate student learningPlans a program of study that addresses the individual needs and abilities of the studentsDevelops and maintains a school/classroom environment conducive to learning and socially appropriate for the age of students taughtAnalyzes and uses appropriate data to guide instruction and develop assessmentsEstablishes and communicates clear expectations for all lessons, class work, and projects. Assigns lessons routinely and corrects student work in a timely fashionMaintains good order in classroom and other areas of the schoolSupervises students at school related functions including on and off campus activitiesConsults with other professionals to address learning or behavioral problems with specific studentsCommunicates with parents/guardian regularly through verbal and written formAssesses the progress of students on a regular basis, both formative and summative, and provides progress reports as requiredSchedules parent conferences as directed by the system and as needed in particular cases; if necessary, these conferences may be outside the school day as dictated by student/parent/guardian needsKeeps accurate attendance and academic performance records for assigned studentsReports to the appropriate administrative and/or consultative personnel when knowledgeable or suspicious that a child's health or welfare has been or appears to be at riskTakes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilitiesParticipates in school level faculty meetings, system professional development and in-service meetings, staff committee meetings, and other workshops for teacher trainingPlans, supervises, and provides guidance for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s)Maintains accurate financial recordsProvides detailed plans for substitute teachers including lessons, schedules and rules regarding classroom organization, procedures and individual student needsGeneral Requirements:Follows Federal and State Laws and adopted policies and procedures in accordance with School Board prioritiesConducts oneself in the best interest of students, in accordance with the highest standards of public education and in support of the District's Vision/Mission StatementsMaintains ethical standards, which include professionalism and the protection of confidential student and staff information Other responsibilities and/or duties may be required and assignedBOE Revisions Approved 2/8/10
