Severe/Profound Special Education TeacherContact: Janelle Shepherd, Special Education DirectorSummary:The Severe/Profound Special Education Teacher is responsible for the education and care of students with severe and profound disabilities. This includes developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), providing instruction in a variety of settings, and collaborating with parents, other teachers, and support staff.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with parents, teachers, and other professionals
- Provide instruction in a variety of settings, including self-contained classrooms, general education classrooms, and community settings
- Collaborate with parents, other teachers, and support staff to meet the needs of students with severe and profound disabilities
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records
- Participate in professional development activities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in special education or a related field
- Valid teaching license in the state of employment
- Experience working with students with severe and profound disabilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
