Essential Functions This posting is advertising for manual labor candidates only and the essential job functions may include but are not limited to: Laborer:
- Operates hand and power tools (e.g., chainsaws, motorized saws) for grass, brush, and street repairs.
- Flags traffic and sets up traffic control on job sites.
- Spreads, shovels, and levels asphalt, gravel, and other materials for street repairs.
- Operates power tools to compress asphalt and mix concrete.
- Builds forms, pours, and finishes concrete.
- Lifts and places materials like riprap, securing them with concrete.
- Loads and spreads salt for street maintenance.
- Uses a jackhammer for material removal.
Equipment Operator:
- Operates light and medium trucks and trailers to transport equipment and materials.
- Performs daily equipment checks (oil, fuel, tire pressure) and reports malfunctions.
- Operates mowing equipment and hand tools for grass cutting and material handling.
- Assists with loading, cleaning ditches, and street repairs.
- Serves as backup crew leader, transporting and directing crews, and completing work sheets.
- Performs unskilled labor tasks as needed.
Crew Leader/Worker:
- supervises a work crew involved in constructing, repairing, and maintaining City streets and related structures.
- Performs daily operative maintenance on assigned trucks and equipment.
- Performs masonry work, including laying blocks and walls.
- Cleans catch basins, storm drains, removes litter, and cuts brush and grass.
Minimum Qualifications, Additional Requirements and Supervisory Responsibilities PT/Temp Laborer: These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through the completion of one (1) year of experience in manual labor. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.PT/Temp Equipment Operator:Equipment Operators, level 1 - 3 - Must have a Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License and pass a practical exam. Dump truck or as dictated by level of earthmoving equipment being driven/operated.PT/Temp Crew Worker:These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of high school or vocational technical coursework in construction or building trades, one (1) year of experience in masonry work or street maintenance work and one (1) year of supervisory or lead worker experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for duration of employment in this position.
