SUMMMARY:
The Maintenance Mechanic's primary function is to perform, design, building, rebuilding and installation of equipment utilized in the company's operations. In addition, the Maintenance Mechanic will be able to work independently and provide direction for other mechanics.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Within the parameters of the policies and control procedures of the maintenance department, the Maintenance Lead is responsible for the accomplishment of the following duties:
Works well with others, fostering a team atmosphere.
Maintains a clean, safe work area at all times.
Comply with all GMP requirements.
Promote and maintain effective, safe work habits and follow all safety rules.
Work neatly and orderly around equipment and always leave the work area clean and ready for production.
Trained to use applicable classes of Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) and must maintain valid certification.
Complex troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment used in the baking industry; utilizing prints, documents, training and experience.
Repair or replace electric cords, switches, heating elements, PLC's, computer related equipment and complex writing.
Must be able to interpret blue prints, electrical schematics and technical documents.
Make major repairs on electrical motors, generators and motor control devices.
Be proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools and manual repair equipment.
Must have an advanced understanding of electrical devices and their interaction with the mechanics of equipment.
Promote and demonstrate advanced procedures for preventive maintenance practices.
Be able to weld and cut using MIG/TIG/STICK/TORCH type of equipment.
Be able to overhaul various types of mechanical and electrical equipment used in the bakery industry.
Perform testing on boilers, water conditioners, ovens and other equipment used in bakery operations.
Perform repairs and adjustments on refrigeration, air compressors and other facility related equipment.
Be proficient in the installation, care and tracking of belts used on bakery equipment.
Must be capable of providing direction to other mechanics.
Must be able to perform Tool Room Machinists duties.
Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
Ability to read and record written instructions.
Ability to work independently.
Notify Supervision of any issues.
Must adhere/comply with all Company policies, procedures and practices.
All other duties as assigned.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Maintenance Mechanic will be accountable to the Maintenance Lead for the fulfillment of his or her duties. The Maintenance Mechanic will be measured to the degree of his/her production levels and quality of work performed in these assigned duties.
EXPERIENCE:
5 years or more of maintenance related work and one year of experience in a lead role/position.
EDUCATION:
Completion of high school or GED, Maintenance Training program and a leadership training program at collegiate level.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and lift up to 50 lbs. and shared weight up to 100 lbs. Occasional exposure to airborne dust, high humidity and extremes of hot and cold are possible.
