- High school diploma preferred.
- Certificate of good health signed by a licensed physician, upon hire.
- Ability to read basic operating instructions and reports.
- Demonstrated aptitude for successful fulfillment of tasks assigned.
- Such other alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform daily tasks in cleaning and maintaining a school building and surrounding area.
- Usually works on a shift basis with crew or supervisor.
- Follows orders on what is to be done and in sequence of custodial operations in connection with any of the following typical duties:
- Sweeps, mops and dusts floors, stairs, classrooms, shop and assembly area, lavatories, furniture and outside steps. Collects trash, empties wastebaskets, fills barrels; checks roof for debris; washes windows, glass doors, blinds and walls; washes, strips, waxes and polishes floors with powered equipment; checks all lavatories, cleans fixtures, replaces soap and paper products; vacuum cleans rugs, carpets, and drapes; removes stains and spillage; remove ice/snow from walks and steps; checks for fire hazards and water damage; replaces broken lights and damaged hardware, temporarily boards up broken windows; does routine cleaning of the boiler room, equipment and floor area; occasional lifting and moving of furniture.
- Such other duties may from time to time be assigned by the Principal, Head Custodian or Shift Leader.
