Job Description SummaryThe CNC Machinist will be responsible for setup, programming, and operation of horizontal & vertical grinding machines used to overhaul industrial turbine rotors/vanes/nozzle assemblies.Job Description Essential Duties & Responsibilities:• Set up and run various 4-5 axis Danobat CNC machining tools - mostly but not limited to horizontal and vertical grinding machines• Be able to modify, operate, and program Fanuc Computer Numerical Controlled machines• Complete tasks referencing geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)• Responsible for entering all machining parameters as well as proving part programs (including adjustments to machine to control speed, material feed, cutting path, and other instructions such as zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, using shop math, geometry, and trigonometry.• Responsible for quality, making sure the machines are set up properly, working well, and producing quality product (assuring the Scope of Work and GEK Manuals match. Also responsible for generating Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) if there are any issues with the product.• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on Machine Shop machines (including disassembly of machines or equipment, using hand tools or power tools to examine parts for defects and replace defective parts where needed)• Utilize a wide variety of precision tooling such as indicators, micrometers, calipers, drills, depth gauges, other measuring equipment to achieve accuracies at specified tolerance.• Transport parts from area to area as directed include operation of material-moving equipment such as forklifts, jib cranes, overhead cranes etc.• Will have ownership of compliance, safety, quality, and productivity in machining area• Provide product line support in the assembly / disassembly of LM6000, LM2500, LMS100, and modules as needed• Serve as change agent to help improve on current processes• Perform other related duties as assigned.Basic Qualifications/Requirements:• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Machinist.• High School Diploma/GED• Be able to read, evaluate and respond to product specifications and blueprints, and perform routine mathematical calculations (basic math, geometry, and trigonometry)• Be able to be certified to use overhead cranes and their associated rigging systems, as well as drive various types of forklifts• Be able to read and communicate in the English language• Be able to lift 40 lbsDesired Characteristics:• Minimum of 3 years knowledge prior Turbine engine or module assembly / disassembly experience • Computer literate• Ability to utilize CAD/CAM software to convert detailed drawings/procedures to machine programs • Capacity to handle multiple simultaneous projects• Extensive experience in the following areas: CNC operation; drilling; tapping; milling; grinding; quality control; and safety• Ability to use precision measuring equipment to achieve accuracies at 0.0001 of tolerance.• Hydraulic and basic electrical experienceAdditional InformationGE offers a great work environment, professional development, challenging careers, and competitive compensation.
