Job DescriptionPrimary Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the activities of production staff, including machinists, welders, and assemblers, ensuring effective and efficient operation.
- Schedule Management: Develop and maintain shift schedules, ensuring adequate staffing levels and addressing any personnel issues that arise during the shift. Move personnel to work centers/areas as needed based on demands or equipment restrictions. Communicate scheduling requirements or restrictions with the appropriate team members.
- Production Targets: Monitor production metrics, such as output, efficiency, and quality, to ensure that production targets and deadlines are met.
- Process Management: Oversee machining, welding, and assembly processes, ensuring adherence to work instructions, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve production issues, equipment malfunctions, and process bottlenecks to minimize downtime and maintain productivity. Work with maintenance on resolution.
- Continuous Improvement: Implement and promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
- Safety Enforcement: Enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Conduct safety training and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Compliance: Ensure that all manufacturing activities comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies. Ensure that Factory Rules are being fairly administered and enforced.
- Training: Provide training and development opportunities for production staff, including new hires and ongoing skill development.
- Performance Management: Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and address any performance issues or disciplinary actions as necessary. Assist employees that are not meeting standard with coaching, solving problems, and/or eliminating downtime waste.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field is preferred; or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing supervisory role, preferably in machining, welding, and assembly environments.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Knowledge of machining, welding, and assembly processes and equipment.
- Familiarity with engineered-to-order manufacturing environments and custom orders.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a face-paced environment, prioritizing daily tasks accordingly.
- Familiarity with Union Environments is preferred
