Job Description:
SUMMARY: Supervises all aspects of security and related services for Wilderness at the Smokies and Soaky Mountain Waterpark while maintaining the highest level of safety and guest service standards. This requires constant hands on attention to the staffing and organizing of team to ensure guest satisfaction and to minimize the potential for operational risks, including injuries and illness. Assist the security department management in promoting and maintaining the company's security and property protection programs of employees and guests by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate staff. Act as the Security Department Field Training Officer (FTO) and Resort Resource Officer (RRO) for J1 students and housing. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
  • Performs all of the duties and functions of a Security Guard; in addition performs these additional duties;
  • Schedules and supervises all security and dispatch staff within budget guidelines and approved staffing levels
  • Communicate and brief as necessary Security Department activities to Resort Manager
  • Assumes the duties of the Security Manager in their absence
  • Responsible for assuring patrol of all Wilderness at the Smokies properties to include; River Lodge, Stone Hill Lodge, off site properties (Gists Creek, Reed's School House Road) including outside pool areas/water parks, beach, boat dock area, Wyndham Timeshares and any other areas as directed by management
  • Make sure all areas are locked at the appropriate times
  • Monitor cameras
  • Assure that all guest and employee complaints are investigated and communicate with Resort Management and/or Human Resources as needed. Notify local law enforcement if the situation warrants it
  • Assure that lost and found policies are followed
  • Keep a daily log of activities
  • Documents all investigations, logs and other security related findings into Report Executive.
  • Reviews and approves security guard reports and logs
  • Assure that all parking lots are patrolled
  • Enforce all company and departmental policies, procedures and manuals
  • Will direct the Onboarding, training and orientation all new Security staff to their job position following new hire orientation with Human Resources
  • Complete all training documentation and checklists for each new hire. Will make the final determination when new staff are able to rotate into schedule unassisted
  • Responsible for security assignments at all Student Housing buildings upon completion
  • Will attend all incoming student orientations held by Human Resources and provide safety and security training to all new International Students
  • Will act as a liaison with the Human Resources department, Security and the Resort in all International Student matters related to Student Housing and the Resort as a whole
  • Will act as a Resource Officer for the International Student Community for any matter related to their safety, security and well-being
  • Assure that all guest areas including all waterparks, guest rooms areas and common areas are being patrolled by foot
  • Assist with other duties per Assistant Director of Security or Assistant General Manager
  • Assist with all emergencies per policy. Immediate response may be required
  • Be seen and interact with guests and staff
  • All other duties as assigned by management
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises employees under the direction of the Department Manager. Carries out supervisor responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include overseeing the daily operations including training employees, motivating employees, appraising performance, rewarding and assisting in disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: (Level 3) High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.LANGUAGE SKILLS: (Level 4) Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of guests, managers, executives and other employees of the organizationMATHEMATICAL SKILLS: (Level 3) Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.REASONING ABILITY: (Level 5) Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Valid Tennessee Driver's license or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
  • CPR & AED Card
  • State of Tennessee Unarmed Security Guard Certification or ability to obtain
