Ready to shape the future of our industry?2nd Shift Supervisor: NC, USA Mission and key priorities of the roleThe 2nd shift Supervisor will provide overall shift management and coordination to the daily production of product; responsible for driving a culture of safety first, ensures that all team me work to establish standards: address personnel issues that arise during the shift; coordinate the training needs of the new operations employees; and ensure that the quality of the product is safely manufactured at a cost that is equal to or less than the standard cost.Your responsibilities include:
  • Before the shift begins, reviews coating/converting schedules with employees discussing any machine issues, material issues or employee-related issues.
  • Before and after the shift, facilitate a shift hand-off meeting with other supervisors, including items that were not completed on the respective shift.
  • Create a daily FLASH report.
  • Attends and provides support to safety training with employees.
  • Align with other shift managers to provide volunteer staffing for the incoming shift if shortages of staff occur due to absenteeism.
  • Monitor and assist Head Operators and Coordinators to ensure equipment is operating at peak efficiency.
  • Train each coater and converting operators to reduce waste and improve material usage.
  • Troubleshoot operating procedures and run problems, identify solutions, and make recommendations.
  • Constantly monitor quality tests to ensure the company's quality standards are met or exceeded.
  • Reviews production entries made for accuracy.
  • Follow up on complaints from internal and external customers; develops solutions to resolve issues.
  • Continuously reviews SOP's especially in Coating 101 and Slitting 101, for adherence and coordinate with other shifts if issues/changes need to be considered.
  • Monitors the team's training needs and develops a plan to correct any areas of improvement.
  • Monitor daily physical raw material and supply inventories to alert the Supply Chain team of material shortages issues.
  • Fill in for an operator position when needed due to absenteeism.
  • Review and fix all picks for accuracy on all MO's before the end of shift.
  • Reviews production reports for accuracy before the end of shift.
  • Reviews and fixes all infinity data before the end of shift.
  • Reviews all OVAR reports for accuracy and meeting scrap and production expectations.
  • Reviews all variance reports and approves or puts on hold prior to the end of the shift.
  • Create and foster customer awareness, can do attitude with the employees.
  • Continually monitor condition of tools and equipment for repair or replacement
  • Monitor employee timesheets and monitor attendance on the company's payroll system.
  • Complete employee performance reviews and discuss with Production Plant Manager; then discuss with employee.
  • Interviews, trains, and manages employees' performance with support and guidance from HR.
  • Develop and own a housekeeping plan to ensure areas are neat and clean at all times.
  • Completes daily 5S walks and find-it fix-it activities with the team.
  • Works closely with the maintenance team to quickly address any maintenance or safety issues.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted safely and within safety guidelines/procedures.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Production Plant Manager
Who are we looking for:
  • Associate degree in manufacturing related discipline or HS Diploma and 5 years related manufacturing work experience.
  • 5 years minimum of experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skillset with the ability to inspire and influence others in a positive way.
  • Demonstrated process management ability.
  • Exhibit high level of professionalism and leadership in fast paced environment.
  • Work accurately under pressure
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Outlook, Access, Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Ability to understand any and all safety requirements and cautions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English used in the workplace.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
  • Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly during a work shift.
  • Ability to climb stairs consistently.
  • Visual acuity (near and distant) sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people, and understand written direction.
  • Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand and give directions.
  • Ability to participate in sustained activities for many hours in duration in accordance with state labor laws.
  • Lift and carry up to and above 50 pounds.
  • Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must exhibit very detailed informational accuracy.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Manufacturing Environment (Hot in summer and cool in winter)
  • Occasional weekend work may be required.
