Job Description Job Title: 2nd Shift Supervisor FLSA Classification: Exempt Department: Operations Salary Grade: N/A Supervisor: Production Manager Date: December 6, 2024 Summary/Objective This position is responsible for supervising hourly employees of sanitation. The other hourly positions will be under this position's supervision but will be managed by the supervisor of the department. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions for all departments. Generally responsible for the plant during the shift. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Provide employee direction and required training to meet safety, quality, and performance standards and expectations;
  • Enforce employee safety by assuring procedures are followed and implement corrective action;
  • Enforce quality, regulatory, and operational policies and procedures;
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and communicate results regarding safety, quality, and performance; implement corrective actions as required;
  • Support and mentor the Team Leads in enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), employee relations, scheduling, and operational objectives;
  • Conduct and participate in continuous improvement activities for short and long-term projects;
  • Maintain inspection-ready condition of facility and processes at all times assuring plant meets regulatory requirements;
  • Utilize Labware, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), inventory management system (SAP), and maintenance historian system to complete investigation corrections and maintain awareness of issues;
•Conduct team meetings (daily/weekly/monthly as applicable), including team member participation;
  • Assure production and packaging lines start on time, reduce time to clean, and manage overtime and staffing to achieve target labor costs;
  • Monitor chemical usage;
  • Control expenditures within the department to maintain budget;
  • Reports results, issues, and activities to quality and plant manager
  • Communicate and direct maintenance technicians as required;
  • Maintain documentation and performance logs of employees; conduct annual employee reviews;
  • Maintain employee time and attendance in Kronos/ADP;
  • Responsible for planning daily sanitation, packaging and sanitation tasks and meeting schedule requirements;
  • Support projects and trials as necessary and maintain proper documentation;
  • Ability to understand all job requirements and possess good troubleshooting skills.

This position will be responsible of the entire plant during their shift but will not be the manager of the production and packaging team. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee works on the production/packaging floor and in an office environment. Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The employee is exposed to a humid and wet environment at times and could also be exposed to hot or cold conditions. The use of steel-toed safety shoes, ear plugs. Hair/beard nets, lab coats, and other personal protective equipment is required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The role also routinely uses production and process equipment. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and use fingers to type. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must occasionally lift or move items up to and over 50 pounds. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Occasional off shift work hours will be required.
