Position Summary:

The primary role of the Sanitation team is cleaning plant production equipment and facilities to meet food safety, customer quality, and worker safety requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Use of proper PPEs in accordance with the chemicals used including safety glasses, boots, wet suits, gloves, etc.
  • Perform pre-cleaning inspection of plant equipment, and areas and report findings.
  • Perform cleaning and sanitation of plant equipment, areas including walls, ceilings, overhead units, etc., and environment in a thorough and safe manner (cleaning may require equipment breakdown and assembly).
  • Operate cleaning systems and equipment as trained and specified (including, but not limited to high pressure hoses, chemical dispensers, hand jacks, power walkers, scissor lifts, etc.).
  • Ensure all Sanitation (Pre-Op) checks are performed at designated intervals.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping of performed checks are properly documented according to company and regulatory regulations.
  • Adhere to all current SOPs, GMPs, and quality requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area throughout the facility and common areas.
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships and communications with employees from all departments.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned that are necessary, required, or directed by management.
  • Follow all required safe handling procedures for chemical used; use SDS when necessary.
  • Properly dilutes/mixes chemicals following procedures carefully.
  • Use chemical test kits according to specifications. Complete the required paperwork on chemical test kits.
  • Use chemical test kits to check for appropriate concentration levels.
  • Ensure the use of required safety equipment and compliance with safety procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
  • Must be dependable, flexible, and report to work as scheduled.
  • Must be able to work overtime when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to stand for 9-10 hours per day.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and squat as needed for housekeeping responsibilities and other miscellaneous duties.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to work 40 or more hours per week including weekends.
  • Must be able to work mandatory overtime if necessary.
  • Must be highly attentive to detail (i.e. meat type/film/date/equipment).
  • Must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Must be able to handle varying temperatures per department.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Must be dependable, and flexible and come to work daily and cover for other shifts when needed.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • 1 -2 years of related work experience is preferred.

Work Environment

  • Must be able to work in temperatures of 40 degrees or less.
  • Must be flexible and able to work schedules.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manufacturing plant environment with frequent standing for extended periods of time; walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds unassisted; bending, crouching, stooping, reaching, and climbing stairs and ladders; work area may be slippery and may have uneven surfaces, some above ground level elevated surfaces.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and/or overtime when needed.
  • Varied temperature environment (hot/cold/humid).
