Salary: $18.09 HourlyLocation : ColumbusJob Type: Part-Time RegularJob Number: 202300151Department: Cooperative ExtensionOpening Date: 10/09/2024Closing Date: 11/30/2024 11:59 PM EasternDescriptionGeneral Statement of DutiesThe 4-H Program Assistant, under general supervision, trains and instructs youth and volunteers; prepares written correspondence including news releases and lesson plans as required. Employee works in cooperation with the 4-H Youth Development Agent and must be responsible, creative, professional, dependable and be a good team player. Employee must exercise initiative and independent judgement, tact and courtesy in dealing with clientele and other staff. Position requires a strong personal commitment to youth development programming. Examples of DutiesEssential Duties and Tasks
  • Researches and gains knowledge of 4-H Youth Development programming.
  • Plans, executes and evaluates county extension programs within the assigned areas of program responsibility.
  • Assists in establishing new 4-H clubs and support and maintain existing clubs; helps with Polk Counties participation in District and State 4-H events and activities including 4-H Teen Retreat, District Activity Day, Congress and Camp.
  • Plans and implements educational workshops for youth and volunteers related to 4-H educational programs/opportunities including Project Records, Scholarships, Presentations and others.
  • Assists in marketing, design, promotion, social media promotion and evaluation of 4-H programs.
  • Identifies, establishes, and maintains stakeholder relationships.
  • Transports youth and volunteers to related programs.
  • Works with clients and other staff exercising considerable tact and courtesy; answers questions and resolves problems regarding programs.

Typical QualificationsMinimum Requirements and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Experience in 4H or related activities.
  • Work experience in an administrative or support position.
  • Working with youth is essential.
  • Customer service experience with direct public contact.
  • Experience with working in local government a plus.
  • Successful pre-employment drug screen.
  • Successful criminal Background check.
Physical Demands The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, driving, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
