Provide guidance to general teachers when students are in their classes; provide information and guidance to parents; attend IEP meetings; and attend county workshops. Case-manage an assigned group of students and track their progress in general education classes. Implement Response to Intervention Program. Participate in school activities as a supervisor and attend Parent Teacher meetings. Maintain all required IEP and Medicaid documentation in a timely fashion, as well as preparing lesson plans and attending faculty meetings. Provide resource duties as determined by the building principal. Complete any additional activities or responsibilities assigned by the principal, director of special education, or the superintendent.
- Comply with timelines, laws, and regulations as it relates to district, state, and federal policies and procedures.
- Design, supervise and implement IEP plans in a timely and compliant manner for eligible students.
- Plan and implement academic instruction for students who exhibit communication, social, and behavioral challenges using evidence-based methods (i.e., Direct Instruction) and modified curriculum materials, as well as general education curriculum to work effectively with students with Autism.
- Plan and implement non-academic instruction in areas such as social skills, toilet training, community-based instruction.
- Document and share student progress on goals and objectives, accommodations, service time, and discipline/suspensions. Collect and analyze student data and monitor student progress.
- Effectively collaborate with all service providers, general education teachers and other staff to support and provide documentation for the review of existing data process.
- Provide support to general education classroom teachers, as appropriate.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of behavior support plans, including a classroom plan and any needed individual plans, as well as carry out these plans with fidelity.
- Use CPI training and an understanding of the function of behavior to prevent behavior and intervene safely and effectively, including restraint when part of a written plan.
- Maintain consistent contact with parents.
- Participate in building level meetings and in special education meetings as directed by administrators.
- Supervise, train, and guide classroom assistant.
Qualifications Multi-Categorical Certification required; prior successful teaching experience in special education preferred; and Autism endorsement preferred. If a fully-certified teacher is not available, a teacher eligible for a permit will be considered. Anyone employed with a permit must commit to take a minimum of six (6) hours toward certification and remain in the position for the 2024-2025 School Year..
