503B Compounding Pharmacist

MedRock Pharmacy, a leading 503A non-sterile compounding pharmacy with a focus on dermatology, is seeking a Licensed Compounding Pharmacist to join our team. This role is designed to train an experienced 503B pharmacist to transition into a leadership role for our future 503B outsourcing facility, currently in the planning stages.
The ideal candidate will bring several years of 503B pharmacy experience, including time as a Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) or Pharmacy Manager, to ensure seamless scaling from 503A to 503B operations.
The Compounding Pharmacist Will:
- Conduct quality control on compounded products to ensure compliance with both 503A and 503B standards.
- Collaborate with the lab team to enhance skincare formulations (e.g., improving texture, stability).
- Assist in creating and reverse-engineering topical vehicles and formulations.
- Support staff pharmacists with daily tasks, including prescription verification and lot validation.
- Provide expertise and mentorship for 503B-specific regulatory and operational requirements, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Play a key role in developing policies, workflows, and training materials to prepare the team for future 503B operations.
- Work closely with the owner to develop strategies for scaling to a fully operational 503B facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee 503A pharmacy operations with a vision to transition into 503B leadership.
- Ensure pharmacy operations comply with all legal and regulatory guidelines, with a strong focus on FDA and GMP compliance.
- Dispense and compound medications for patients, provide counseling, and supervise staff.
- Develop quality control and validation processes to align with 503B standards.
- Lead and mentor staff to ensure readiness for 503B operations, including inspections and audits.
- Create and implement workflows that are scalable to 503B production.
- Collaborate with the owner on business growth strategies and infrastructure planning for the 503B facility.
Key Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in 503B pharmacy operations, including quality control, regulatory compliance, and GMP.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a 503B pharmacy, with at least 2 years as a Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) or Pharmacy Manager.
- Strong background in compounding, particularly with topical and dermatological products.
- Proven ability to lead a team, manage multiple priorities, and oversee compliance processes effectively.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Experience building and implementing operational processes and workflows.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Active Registered Pharmacist license in Florida.
- Demonstrated expertise in compounding, dispensing, and regulatory compliance under 503B standards.
- Familiarity with FDA inspections, audits, and GMP guidelines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on exceptional customer service.
