Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Office of Space Management and Convention and Visitors Bureau Manager, the Tourism Specialist is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and hospitality to Brownsville's current & potential visitors in person and online. The Brownsville Convention and Visitors Bureau works with elected officials, city management, the Convention and Visitors Bureau Advisory Board, City departments and local stakeholders to ensure Brownsville is a competitive destination for meetings, events, and leisure.

Key Functions/Knowledge/Skills
* Responsible for providing customer service, greeting visitors and providing local information to visitors.
* Assists with the gathering of pertinent information and assets from internal departments and stakeholders for the Brownsville Convention & Visitors Bureau to efficiently & effectively disseminate printed/digital promotional materials to include: direct mail pieces, posters, brochures, website graphics, social media banners, digital advertising banners, signage and other projects such as public relations/media assistance.
* Research and develop social media, website, and newsletter content. Contribute & post specific social media outlets for local/regional community marketing.
* Plans, prepares for, and participates in Tourism Office special projects and events (including tradeshows).
* Fulfill and track information requests resulting from advertising/marketing campaigns.
* Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education & Experience
High school graduation or GED plus two years of experience.
Verbally fluent in English & Spanish.
General knowledge in local community attractions and social media with a willingness to learn General Administration, Medial Relations & Marketing Strategies, Digital Marketing, Sales & Customer Service.
Special Certifications & Licenses
Valid Texas Driver's License.
