Pima County Recorder's Office will be hiring intermittent employees for Elections to work the following work tasks.
1. Ballot Processing -
* Opening and separating large quantities of mail.
* Scanning
* Sorting
* Manually count envelopes against reports.
* Complete reports of work processed.
2. Signature Verification -
* Operating specialized computer programs.
* Must participate in Forensic Signature Verification Training.
3. Courier (Driving and Transport) -
* Operating delivery vehicles; loading, unloading, and transportation of ballots and election supplies.
* Receiving, storing, and distributing supplies.
* Assisting in Ballot Processing tasks.
4. IT Support -
* Disposition and inventory of all IT equipment Installation of networked devices such as scanners and peripherals.
* Testing of Ballot on-demand printers and other IT equipment as needed as well as assisting in the setup and tear down of early voting site IT equipment. (ability to lift 40 pounds)
* Help desk support for installation of software, modifying and repairing hardware, and resolving various technical issues, based on candidates' ability.
5. Early Voting Site Staffing -
* Greeting and checking in voters.
* Checking IDs, ensuring they meet statutory requirements.
* Issuing and receiving ballots.
* Troubleshooting and communicating issues with site monitors.
6. Data Entry -
* Answering phones and greeting office guests.
* Performing clerical work involving the preparation and processing of materials used in the Early Voting process.
* Entry of paper forms into specialized computer programs.
* Making phone calls to voters.
7. Phone Banks -
* Answering phones and assisting the public with questions regarding their registration and voting locations.
(Work assignments may vary depending on the department's needs and will be communicated to the applicant or incumbent by the supervisor.)
Processes early ballots for tabulation;
Prepares election supplies and voting machines for delivery to poll locations;
Makes minor mechanical and electrical repairs on voting equipment;
Loads and unloads election supplies and other materials;
Transports and receives election ballots, returns, and precinct supplies.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Knowledge of:
* basic arithmetic principles;
* operation and maintenance of election voting equipment;
* basic office practices;
* basic safety procedures for moving supplies and materials.
Skill in:
* following written and oral instructions;
* communicating effectively;
* performing operator-level maintenance on assigned equipment;
* understanding and interpreting street guides or maps;
* moving supplies and materials.
Must be a registered voter with current registration in Pima County.

Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum/desired qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum/desired qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidates from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process. Licenses and Certificates: Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver's license is required at the time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine the applicant's suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services' review and approval of the candidate's driving record.
Special Notice Items: Must be available to work on-call, as needed, and work overtime for extended periods of time. The County requires pre-employment background checks.
