Job Summary: The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge & skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The employee will assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management under the direction of the physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner. The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to perform limited X-ray procedures as directed by the physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner.This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.Education:Required: High School diploma/equivalent. Completion of an accredited (or in process of accreditation within 2 years) Medical Assistant Program or completion of a governed Medical Assistant program or completed equivalent military training or one year of Clinical Medical Assistant experience within last 5 years. Certification for Limited X-Rays. Preferred:Phlebotomy skillsExperience:Required:Preferred:Medical background Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/RegistrationRequired:Medical Assistant CertificationBLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forwardPreferred:Current CPR Department Position Summary:The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge & skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The employee will assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management under the direction of the physician, physician assistant/nurse practitioner, or nurse. Responsible for direct and/or indirect patient care. Primary duties include but are not limited to escorting patients to exam rooms, taking vital signs, preparation for evaluations and/or procedures as directed by physician or PA/NP, collections of laboratory tests, processing of waived or non-waived laboratory tests, performing/assisting with X-Ray. Responsible for ensuring medical supplies are inventoried weekly. Perform calibrations on all testing equipment. Responsible for performing patient testing and injections as directed by physician or PA. Knowledge of pharmacology and able to administer medications as appropriate. Referral duties: Responsible for calling physician offices to set referral appointment, contacting patient with appointment time and date. Entry of all referral information in tracking database. Assist patients with billing issues/concerns. Knowledge of medical terminology and coding processes. Assist office manager with the coordination of onsite medical services. Work closely with other employees to ensure customer focus. Assist with general office duties. Supports other practice operations as assigned by the Physician or Practice Manager.
