Job Description

Elementary Coach - 5th Grade Boys Basketball

Required Attachments:

Reports to: Athletic Director

Essential Functions: Organize and schedule daily practice sessions (4 to 5 days per week) with the concept of developing the athlete's greatest potential.

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge:

* Establish a fair and consistent means of selecting and evaluating players and teams and communicate this to parents and athletes.

* Emphasize the importance of a developmentally focused league.

* Scheduling daily practices with a plan for development and being organized to best use of time.

* Have knowledge of all players' strengths and weaknesses.

* Use resources and maximize the skills of your high school coaches.

* Emphasize safety precautions at all times.

* Be educated of proper conditioning, training and injury procedures.

* Keep accurate reports on injured players and maintain lines of communication with the Athletic Director or others in charge of injuries or back-to-play releases.

* Teach the fundamentals of the sport.

* Assume responsibility for the constant care of equipment and facilities.

* Maintain proper supervision of the basketball during the season.

* Meet with parents when requested to do so.

* Have a solid communication protocol to students, parents, Athletic Director and students.

* Work to promote your program and all athletes.

* Report game results to the Athletic Director in a timely manner.

* Discipline athletes in a consistent manner while providing a means for parents and athletes to discuss concerns with you.

* Monitor all student behaviors while transporting student athletes on all off campus games/activities. Intervene when a problem presents itself.

* Be a positive, motivating and enthusiastic member of our coaching staff and present yourself in a professional manner when dealing with parents and students.

* Display the highest level of sportsmanship, fair play, integrity and honesty.

* Show the importance of time management and being on time.

* Wear appropriate coaching attire that is professional and suitable for the environment.

Salary: $1000.00 Stipend

Coach Benefits: One hour of sick leave for every forty (40) hours worked.

Employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a Washington State Patrol, FBI fingerprint criminal history background check, and Sexual Misconduct background check.
