I. TITLE: Head Coach - Middle School

II. QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Demonstrates skill and experience in the sport coached.

B. Valid Idaho Teaching Certificate preferred.

C. Ability to work with staff, students, and the public.

D. Current CPR certification.

E. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

III. REPORTS TO: Building Administrator.

IV. JOB GOALS:

To support the delivery of School District 91's curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.

To help each participating student achieve a fundamental skill level, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

V. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Plans regularly scheduled practice sessions and activities which are designed to maximize the skill level of the individual athlete within the confines of district and state policies and regulations.

B. Teaches the fundamentals of the game and the personal characteristics required by the demands of the sport

C. Interacts with building and district administration to schedule competitive activities within the confines of district and state guidelins.

D. Is responsible for the welfare and safety of students athletes at practice, during competition and while traveling with the team. This includes responsibility for students while on road trips and beyond game time (i.e. at motels, restaurants, and before and after games.) Must attend safety and legal workshops sponsored by the district (i.e. CPR and first aid.)

E. Cooperates with the press and other public entities to represent the program and the school district in a positive manner.

F. Complies with all rules and regulations of the IHSAA, the State Board of Education and the Board of Trustees for School District 91.

G. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence including attendance at district workshops on safety and legal issues, i.e. CPR, first aid.

H. Attends appropriate meetings and serves on committees as requested by the Building Administrator.

I. Maintains high standards of ethical conduct and confidentiality.

J. Performs all other duties as assigned.

VI. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employed annually under the Middle School Coach stipend as per the Stipend Schedule as listed in the Negotiated Master Contract between Idaho Falls School District 91 and the Idaho Falls Education Association. Beginning stipend amount - $1,738.

VII. EVALUATION:

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Profram Director as part of the evaluation process in accordance with Board policy.
