PURPOSE
The Retail Supervisor of The Halal Shack is responsible for the oversight and coordination of all food service activities in both front and back of house operations, ensuring seamless day-to-day management to support the Assistant Manager and operations. This position supports and backs up the Assistant Manager. This role is focused on maintaining operational excellence by assisting with staff management, optimizing production processes, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and delivering exceptional customer service through effective leadership and problem-solving.
This is a 9 month position with winter break and summer months off. The schedule (which is subject to change) is Monday through Friday, 10:00 am - 6:30 pm. Hours may adjust as necessary for business operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist with all day-to-day operations to ensure high customer satisfaction, efficient processes, and alignment with company objectives.
Assist the manager with recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and scheduling, while addressing HR responsibilities as needed.
Develop and maintain a positive, effective learning environment through coaching, feedback, and creating relevant training opportunities for employees.
Assist on the cook's line during peak hours, ensuring proper cooking, handling procedures, and overall quality standards are met.
Anticipate and address customer service comments or concerns proactively.
Assist in managing production levels, inventory, ordering, and product costing while optimizing product placement to drive sales and revenue.
Create and organize space to maximize efficiency, utilize resources effectively, and improve the customer experience.
Ensure workplace safety, security, and sanitation by establishing, enforcing, and monitoring compliance with quality standards and procedures.
Monitor staff attendance, approve leave requests, authorize overtime, and verify timecards.
Manage and reconcile daily registers and safe balances.
Troubleshoot and resolve operational, product, or customer service issues promptly.
Maintain stock and inventory levels, ensuring accuracy and readiness to meet customer demands.
Cost out and price new items in alignment with organizational goals and market trends.
Other duties as assigned to reach individual and organizational goals.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Excellent organizational and time management, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and ability to work with diverse teams.
Ability to supervise teams effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient understanding of food production techniques, portioning, and inventory management.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards related to food service.
Skilled in resource allocation and efficient scheduling.
Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve operational challenges.
Flexibility with work schedules to meet operational needs.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to effectively delegate tasks and monitor team performance throughout shifts.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of service, product quality, and team development.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent
Two years previous experience in food production, recipe adherence and cooking
HACCP and/or Servsafe training/certification preferred but not required
Previous supervisory experience in team leading in a fast paced environment preferred but not required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit for extended periods of time
Extensive computer use
Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds

Rate of Pay: $18.50 per hour
