If you're looking for a meaningful role where your work truly matters, connect with us!We are seeking an Absence Management Specialist to support our member institutions and their employees as they navigate the leave of absence (LOA) process. As the go-to expert for medical leave and disability programs, you'll help employees through their LOA with care and efficiency, ensuring compliance with laws and policies while delivering outstanding service. Your expertise will directly support employees during important times in their lives, helping them feel valued and supported. Enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid setup with the balance of remote and in-office work in at our Shelburne, VT location.Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure medical leaves are handled in compliance with federal and state law and college policies.
  • Make adjustments in Payroll and HR systems to ensure appropriate leave and disability payments.
  • Provide regular communication with individual employees, human resources, and college leadership.
  • Assist employees with return-to-work requirements. Coordinate with HR and department leaders.
  • Act as a member of GMHEC Benefits Team - providing benefits related support to employees.
  • Provide direct employee customer service through our support systems for all areas of benefits and absence management.
Experience, Education & Abilities:
  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Five years of experience in leave administration.
  • PHR or SPHR is a plus.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws related to FMLA, FLSA, ADA, LOA, Worker's Compensation etc., including required LOA documentation practices.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook; Google Drive and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience utilizing payroll and benefits systems.
  • Ability to build strong, positive relationships with external and internal contacts including the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information with tact and discretion.
