Job TitleAcademic AdvisorDepartment Academic Advising CLAASWorker TypeRegularPay TypeSalaryPosition Salary Minimum$43,000Position Salary Maximum$45,000Salary will be commensurate with the level of the position, education, and experience.Scheduled Weekly Hours40Benefit EligibleYesScreening Date2024-09-02Job Description SummaryAcademic Advisor to conduct individual and group advising that includes academic planning, connecting students with appropriate university resources, and communicating relevant information; review semester grades and initiate outreach for academically at-risk students; teach first-year experience or transition course(s).Job DescriptionAcademic Advisor to conduct individual and group advising that includes academic planning, connecting students with appropriate university resources, and communicating relevant information; review semester grades and initiate outreach for academically at-risk students; teach first-year experience or transition course(s).Additional duties include (but are not limited to): working with new student and transfer orientation, supporting advising and retention initiatives, meeting with continuing, returning, and CCP (post-secondary) students, supporting campus events, acting as a resource for faculty and other professional advisors, and serving on committees/working groups. Position affords opportunities for additional project-based contributions and cross-training development. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Academic Advising.Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree, earned by start date.Consideration may be given to candidates with:
  • Experience in a university or college setting
  • A master's in academic advising, higher education administration, college student personnel, psychological counseling, student affairs
  • Experience working with diverse students, including underrepresented minorities, international, and first-generation students
  • Understanding the purpose of a liberal arts education; and excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding higher education retention, advising, and student development theory and/or experience working with student success initiatives.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, collaborative, organization, problem-solving, and technological skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a team, including the ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively to provide student retention outreach.
  • Experience with tools such as Banner, uAchieve (degree audits), Student Success Collaborative (Navigate 360), WorkDay, Oracle Business Intelligence, and Transferology.Com.
