Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for advising students who are undeclared or students who are interested in changing their primary program of study. This position is responsible for all aspects of advising including intake and continuing advising of undeclared students, both first-year and transfer. Responsible for overseeing the University Prosper program to support at-risk students and to assist with advising students across a wide variety of interests and needs. This position reports to the Director of Academic Advising and promotes and supports the philosophy and mission of the Oiler Success Center, Student Affairs and university-wide initiatives related to the student learning experience and academic success. This position is part of the Academic Advising team and assists with office functions in relation to that office. This position requires regular, predictable, reliable attendance in the office environment.
TASK DESCRIPTION
General Responsibilities: Academic Advising and Support
Advise undergraduate and prospective students who enter without programs of study, need assistance choosing a program of study, or choose to change programs of study after entering the university Provide career advising to students who are choosing and changing their major. Coordinate University Prosper program for at-risk students. Monitor the academic progress of students in Prosper program and assist advisors with appropriate intervention for at-risk students. Use campus retention software. Assist with new and transfer student registration. Assist with registration day services for new students. Coordinate outreach and communication efforts to students identified as at-risk. Maintain and update as needed office literature and website information Coordinate and assist with advertising and outreach efforts to promote student use of office services Assist the Director of Advisor with the Academic Advisor Training Series. Coordinate and oversee the University Faculty Advisor of the Year award process Perform all other duties deemed appropriate for this position.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position will select, supervise and evaluate instructors of Academic Support and University-Wide Courses and student assistants hired as peer mentors for those courses.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time 12-month position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position requires regular, predictable, reliable attendance in the office environment.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area travel may be expected.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in student affairs, education, psychology, social work or related field. One-year advising experience or experience in higher education.
Preferred Education and Experience
Master's Degree in student affairs, education, psychology, social work or related field. Three years of higher education experience. Experience in academic advising, university career services, or career counseling
