The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and the Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong are recruiting for an academic pediatric pulmonologist to join the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology and the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Center.
Highlights:
- We seek a candidate with strong clinical skills and an interest in clinical research and program development.
- The position's duties include providing clinical care, teaching, assisting in the administration of clinical programs, and supporting the research mission of the Division and the University. Protected research time is available depending on the applicant's interests and the division's needs.
Division of Pediatric Pulmonology and the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Center:
- The Division operates a fully accredited CF Center and is a CF Foundation Therapeutics Development Network member.
- The CF Center has been awarded a Quality Award from the CF Foundation for two consecutive cycles.
- We are the only center in New York State, outside of NYC, that is part of the Children's Interstitial and Diffuse Lung Disease Network (chILD).
- We also have growing programs in Severe Asthma, Aerodigestive, Neuromuscular Disease, and Complex Clinics, where we see many technology-dependent children.
- Clinical resources include recently updated flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy equipment and a complete pulmonary function test (PFT) laboratory dedicated to pediatric patients.
- In addition to standard spirometry and body plethysmography, the PFT lab can perform multiple breath washout/lung clearance index measures, oscillometry, and exhaled nitric oxide measurements.
- These resources are available for both clinical care and research.
The University of Rochester:
- The University of Rochester offers ample opportunities and resources for clinical research in pediatric respiratory disease.
- The University's Clinical and Translational Research Institute offers extensive resources for conducting clinical research and a KL2 grant program, which, in combination with the Department of Pediatrics K12 program, provides several opportunities for junior faculty to develop their research careers.
- The Division also has an accredited Pediatric Pulmonary Fellowship Program that accepts one fellow every other year. We have also participated in combined fellowships (e.g., combined Neonatology-Pulmonology and combined Pediatric and Adult Pulmonology).
- The medical school and hospital are adjacent to the main university campus, facilitating collaborations across disciplines, such as biomedical engineering.
- With the continued growth of Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong, recruiting additional faculty is part of an overall expansion of services and the development of interdisciplinary initiatives at the University.
Qualifications
- All appointment levels will be considered, although appointments at the Assistant or Associate Professor level are preferred, depending upon the applicant's qualifications and experience.
- Candidates should hold an MD, DO, or equivalent degree and be board-certified or eligible in pediatric pulmonology.
- Training or experience in the clinical care of cystic fibrosis is required. Proficiency in flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy is required.
