Job Description

The Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) in the College of Food, Agricultural (CFAES), and Environmental Sciences and with responsibilities to the College Engineering (CoE) at The Ohio State University is seeking a qualified Academic Program Manager.

The Academic Program Manager in FABE manages student services, including management of undergraduate and graduate academic programs, scheduling of courses, and also program tracking and assessment for external accreditation and to meet university requirements. The successful applicant will support the department chair for tasks that include academic reporting and disseminating information to enrolled students and between the department, college, and university. Provides administrative support to the department by serving on the Graduate Studies Committee. Will provide leadership to all MS and PhD student-related tasks and issues including planning and coordinating graduate student orientation, leading graduate recruitment initiatives, and preparing fellowship and other award nominations in collaboration with the graduate studies committee chair. Will be the primary contact between the department and the OSU Graduate School; will oversee graduate student application and admissions process including working with HR for graduate associate appointment offers; will maintain and update appointments, terminations, and compensation of graduate students; will monitor student progress and serve as the point person for program progression related questions and curricular questions; will advise faculty and students on graduate school and department policies and procedures; will work closely with the department chair and fiscal officer for costing information; provides leadership to development, reporting, interpreting and maintaining graduate and undergraduate assessment data; will work closely with the department communication manager for communicating graduate program efforts through print and digital media and including graduate program updates to the departmental website. This is a hybrid position with the option to work two days remotely and will be located on the Columbus campus with occasional travel to the Wooster campus; salary will be based on experience and academic achievements. The Department consists of 28 faculty, 55 graduate and approximately 410 undergraduate students.

Education

Bachler's degree required; MS degree in Educational Administration desired or equivalent education/experience. 4 years of relevant experience required; 4-8 years of relevant experience desired.

Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as synergistically as a team; organized, proactive, and detail-oriented; excellent written and verbal communication skills; familiarity with Windows operating system and proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook; Teams; ability to manage event and complex meeting logistics/scheduling.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with university policy, procedures, and systems including Workday.

Additional Information:

This job profile is a academic program services specialist 3 (S3 level) position on the career roadmap.

The salary range for this position is $51,000-$67,000/annually.

The salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
