Job Details:
Mercer University's School of Law is searching for an Academic Success/Bar Exam Specialist on the Macon campus.
Responsibilities:
The Academic Success/Bar Exam Specialist will focus on implementing strategies and programs to enhance students' and graduates' success on the bar exam. The candidate will work on multiple levels to meet this objective, including providing individual support for current students and graduates (including graduates who are re-taking the bar exam), delivering school-wide instruction on bar exam topics and strategies, and collaborating with administration, faculty, and staff to enhance bar exam passage rates. Additionally, the candidate will work, in conjunction with the Associate Dean of Academic Success and other academic success professionals, to identify and develop new or existing programs and ideas to further the goal of enhancing bar exam success. The position is part of the Mercer Law School's Academic Success Program and reports to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
Qualifications:
A JD from ABA accredited Law School and one year of prior experience providing academic support to law students (which may include delivering instruction, tutoring, or both). Additionally, candidates must also have a valid Georgia Bar License. Must possess a collegial management style with the ability to collaborate with others. Must have a strong academic record.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
* Strong communication skills to inform, advise, counsel, coach, and tutor law students.
* Knowledge of bar admission standards in Georgia and other states to prepare students to become licensed lawyers.
* Knowledge of pedagogical methods to enhance instruction and work with diverse learning styles.
* Knowledge of law school curricula to aid students in choosing professional paths.
* Demonstrate the ability to work with law students, faculty, and staff.
* The candidate must have excellent writing, speaking, and organizational skills.
