The Center includes various functional areas including Tutoring, Academic Support Services, Academic and Career Advising, and First Year Experience & RetentionSummary of Position:Reporting to the Dean of Student Success, the Academic Support Services Coordinator facilitates academic support services for all students including managing tutorial services, facilitating support programs for academically at-risk students, and providing academic coaching and other support as appropriate for a variety of student populations. The Coordinator plays a pivotal role in campus retention efforts and works closely with other areas within the Center for Student Success (Advising, Retention, and First Year Experience) to serve as a resource to all students.Essential duties and responsibilities:Provide timely, positive support to students so they may achieve their academic goals and overcome academic obstacles.Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate peer tutors.Develop policies and procedures for tutorial services and tutor employment.Coordinate tutor schedules to address courses and/or subject matter in which academic assistance is needed. Collaborate with faculty to identify course-specific academic support to support student success.Conduct academic skills workshops and one-on-one academic coaching sessions several times each week. Serve as a content expert, if needed, regarding academic success skills including note taking, critical reading, time management, networking, understanding LASSI results, and developing study strategies.Engage in intentional and continuous efforts to improve service to and coaching of students, which includes improving internal processes, procedures, resources and published content.Coordinate services for students who are academically at-risk, including the academic contract process.Conduct student outreach to at-risk students and follow-up with students who receive alerts in WPUConnect.Develop and implement programs and services to promote student engagement, retention, and academic success for second-year students.Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student leaders to design and facilitate programs that foster a sense of community and belonging among second-year students.Conduct outreach and marketing efforts to promote second-year-specific programs and services.Provide individualized support and referrals for second-year students as neededSupport student retention and serve on committees as assigned.Partner with the Center for Student Success staff to promote student success.Contribute to Center for Student Success initiatives, as needed.Maintain student files via WPUConnect and other systems, adhering to FERPA standards.Actively seek ways to be accessible to students through campus outreach and programming.Collaborate with campus partners, including faculty, the School of Professional Studies, Student Life staff, and others in Academic Affairs, to provide academic support for various courses and disciplines for all students, including evening and online learners.Assess effectiveness of services provided. Track data such as student use of services and participation in programming, effectiveness of learning outcomes, and attainment of goals. Complete reports as required.Coordinate academic recognition events.Teach AES-100: Academic Success Seminar as needed up to two times per Academic Year.Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree in Education, Counseling, English or related field; skills with academic technology; strong verbal and written communication skills; and ability to demonstrate efficiency and effectiveness in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Qualifications:Two years of experience in academic support services, teaching undergraduate studentsExperience supervising a team of undergraduate student employeesHours per week:Full-Time, HourlyJob Posting Date:08/07/2024Priority Deadline:08/18/2024Priority Deadline Information:Priority consideration will be given to applications received by the Priority Date; however, applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
