Access Control Team ProgrammerAPPLYAccess Control Team Programmer (Onsite)No Visa Sponsorship is available for this position.About the Division of Public SafetyThe Division of Public Safety (DPS) is a team of public safety professionals that work collaboratively with our community to keep Cornell a safe and secure campus to learn and live. The Public Safety Division is comprised of the Public Safety 911 Communications Center, the Cornell University Police Department , the Emergency Management Office, the Clery Compliance Office, the Access Control Program, the Community Response Team, and the Public Safety Ambassadors.Department StatementThe Access Control Program (ACP) is a unit within the Division of Public Safety. This program oversees and administers the card access, video surveillance, intrusion, and key management security systems for Cornell University's campuses in Ithaca and Geneva, NY, some New York City locations, and in Rome, Italy.The OpportunityThe Access Control Team Programmer is responsible for developing the University's Access Control Program (ACP) applications within the Division of Public Safety. The Access Control Team Programmer provides programming and management services (design, code, install, maintain, and document software on a variety of computer platforms used for various systems including the Card Access, Key Management System, and Networked Video Surveillance System (NVSS), and a suite of internal tool integral to business operations in the ACP. The position provides technical guidance and customer support in the use and selection of appropriate applications and interfaces and supports ACP team programming efforts. This position works independently to provide support in order to identify, prioritize, and resolve problems with applications and systems, including debugging code.All employees are accountable for supporting the organization's values of collegiality, integrity, initiative, excellence, civility, and stewardship; and supporting inclusive and sustainable practices in carrying out everyday responsibilities. Employees will participate in performance evaluations including dialogues, 360 degree surveys, assessments, etc.While position responsibilities vary, every member of our community is expected to foster a culture of belonging and a psychologically healthy work environment by communicating across differences; being cooperative, collaborative, open, and welcoming; showing respect, compassion, and empathy; engaging and supporting others regardless of background or perspective; speaking up when others are being excluded or treated inappropriately; and supporting work/life integration of oneself and others.What We NeedRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in computer science and a minimum of three (3) years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.One (1) to two (2) years of experience working in a customer service or customer support role.Thre (3) to five (5) years of programming experience in the Adobe ColdFusion environment and other languages.Proficient in writing clean, efficient code and a strong grasp of algorithms and data structures.Possess a broad understanding of Linux server environments, displayed proficiency in application development for web-based environments, and a comprehensive knowledge of SQL and DBMS'.A thorough understanding of various network protocols and network operating systems.Ability to work independently and take initiative to explore and implement solutions to system/application problems.Able to pass and maintain required background checks and obtain required FBI clearances.Strong organizational and communication skills. We have a few more things that we would prefer you to have, but it's ok if you don't.Preferred Qualifications:Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in development and deployment of client-server database systems, database design and management experience.Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in development and deployment of web-based applications, production environment support and troubleshooting.Ability to obtain and maintain Web Application Penetration Testing certification.Familiarity with Oracle and MS SQL DBMS'.Familiarity with deploying and managing the Apache and IIS web servers in support of application distribution.Familiarity with Shibboleth or other federated authentication platforms.Familiarity with development and consumption of RESTful API solutions.Familiarity with Git or other source code management software used in a non-distributed environment.A Cover Letter and Resume are required for further consideration for this position.
