Job Description:

East Stroudsburg University is hiring an Access Services Supervisor! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU's proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country's largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.

As the Access Services Supervisor, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable overseeing the day-to-day functions of the entire branch of access services for the delivery of service to the campus community. You will be an active member of the Kemp Library team and will work closely with the Director to ensure that the library's resources are readily available, and processes are optimized to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction. In this position the candidate will be responsible for supervising, training, and scheduling their team of energized library professionals and student workers to meet the various needs all year round. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your clerical experience and supervisory background all while using your working knowledge on the principals of library management to efficiently allocate resources for customer support. To be successful in this role, you must be well organized, able to quickly adapt and apply information, and have excellent collaborative skills.

Your normal hours will be Sunday to Thursday 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm. You may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Access Services Supervisor. This includes making sure the library is open on time and there are occasional shift changes throughout the semester. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.

What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)

* Collections and stacks management: Manages circulating materials, including reserve materials, and oversees interlibrary loan materials and course reserves, responsible for upkeep and maintenance of stacks.

* Supervises, manages, trains, and evaluates the staff and student employees of the Access Services Department.

* Coordinates hiring and training of student employees in cooperation with Access Services staff and local librarians.

* Customer service: Improves existing processes, develops new workflows as needed in Access Services, and writes corresponding documentation for use by all library staff ensuring high standards.

* Oversees the collection and reporting of circulation, foot traffic, and satisfaction statistics and makes appropriate recommendations for improvement.

* Fosters an environment of responsive, welcoming, and inclusive services and spaces, including agile responsiveness to unexpected situations.

* Responsible for the day-to-day library operations at Kemp Library, working with appropriate staff and other departments to ensure timely resolution of any issues.

* Manages library policies in cooperation with the library's leadership team.

* Troubleshoots and maintains library equipment and supplies.

What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)

* Four years of library-clerical work including two years of advanced library clerical work comparable to the Library Assistant II, and graduation from high school,

Or

* Two years of advanced library clerical work, and associate degree or equivalent training with major course work in library science or a bachelor's degree.

Additional Skills/ Experience:

* Working experience with Ex Libris Alma and Primo, ILLIAD, and Reshare is preferred.

* Able to think critically and apply critical thinking skills to solve problems independently; make independent decisions that support the needs of the University and its students.

* Able to quickly pivot between work tasks when unplanned events occur that need immediate attention.

* Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

* Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills.

* Ability to lift boxes up to 40 lbs in weight, pushing and pulling loaded book carts; walking, lifting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, sitting, and typing.

* Excellent customer service skills.

* Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.

* Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
