The Accessibility Associate is a leadership position within Disability Resources actively facilitating access for students to courses, programs, services, activities, and facilities. The Accessibility Associate collaborates with students and other members of the campus community to develop and implement best practices in promoting inclusive design and determining and providing reasonable accommodations. Applying independent judgment and expertise through the delivery of professional programs and support services, the Accessibility Associate works with students, faculty, staff, and administrators to advance the institutional commitment to inclusion and improve accessibility and well-being for students with disabilities across campus. This is a 12-month position.

Major Responsibilities
* Facilitate students to identify barriers to full participation in curricular and co-curricular environments and determine appropriate accommodations, reviewing additional sources of information as needed
* Manage the interactive process for housing, dining and academic requests leading to the provision of equal access in consultation with students, faculty, staff, and relevant individuals
* Serve as a subject matter expert by maintaining up-to-date knowledge and understanding of relevant state and federal laws, trends, and best practices in the field of disability services in higher education
* Maintain appropriate records by documenting communication with and regarding students and others who participate in the process of facilitating access and recording recommended courses of action or accommodations
* Participate actively in the continuing development and assessment of resources, programs, and activities including college transition disability programming for incoming 1st year and transfer students and parents
* Lead student leadership initiatives that positively impact campus regarding disability related issues based on students input and areas of interest. Supervise student selected projects or groups once established
* Plan, facilitate, and assess disability related programming that promotes understanding of the experiences of people with disabilities and ways that environmental and attitudinal barriers get in the way of an inclusive campus climate
* Engage in disability related programming featuring prospective students and families and accessibility related events on occasional evenings and weekends
Functional and Supervisory Relationships
The Accessibility Associate would report to the Director of Disability Resources and consult and collaborate with the Assistant Director, the Learning Strategist, Technology Accessibility Coordinator and the Director of Disability Resources on issues related to accommodations, learning and technology. The Accessibility Associate would be in a supervisory role with student employees.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree
* One-year work experience in higher education
* Experience working with individuals with disabilities
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Disability Studies, Psychology, Education, Vocational Rehabilitation or related field
* 3 years working with Students with Disabilities in Higher Education
* Experience with Leadership Development
* Experience with Transition Planning in Higher Education
* Experience Utilizing a 'Social and Disability Justice Model' regarding disability to guide their professional practice
