The Accessibility Specialist will play an important role in the University's accessibility efforts, education and training programming, and overall compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act ( ADA ), Sections 502 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1998, and other state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities. The Accessibility Specialist will report to the ADA /504 Compliance Officer. The Accessibility Specialist will assist with, among other duties, implementing the procedure for accommodating faculty and staff with disabilities; ensuring implementation of accommodation plans; assisting with ADA compliance for the built environment; and assisting with technology accessibility.The University of Nebraska-Lincoln seeks to attract and retain a high-performing and diverse workforce in which employees' differences are respected and valued to better meet the varying needs of the diverse populations we serve. See Minimum Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Disability Services, Human Resources, Management, Education, or other relevant disciplines: OR Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in disability services, human resources, management, education, or related experience. Knowledge of disability issues and ADA regulations affecting higher education. Demonstrated evidence of strong interpersonal and organizational skills is required. Ability to work effectively in a diverse and team-oriented work environment. Sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population. The ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students, administrators, faculty, and staff.Preferred Qualifications Graduate or Professional degree in a related field. Experience developing and implementing accommodation plans for individuals with disabilities. Experience in higher education. Experience with the application of the ADA 2010 Standards for Accessible Design. Familiarity with universal design principles. Knowledge and applicability of assistive and accessible information technologies including digital and web content.
