CENTRAL UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT POSITION DESCRIPTION Position: Accompanist Classification: Classified FLSA: Non-Exempt Reports to: Site Administrator Range: Classified Salary Schedule EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Education and Experience: BA/BS in music preferred. Minimum of one year of providing piano accompaniment and music assistance. Training: Formal training which ensures the ability necessary for successful job performance. License Requirement: Possess a valid California Driver's License. Condition of Employment: Insurability by the District liability insurance carrier. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. AA degree in accounting with a minimum of 15 units in accounting or any equivalent combination of training and/or experience. SUMMARY Under certificated supervision as assigned by the District Music Coordinator, provides musical accompaniment for district choirs, chamber singers, soloists, recitals, drama classes and other special events. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provide accompaniment for district choirs and sight-read accompaniments in rehearsals. 2. Accompany choral concerts, special events and music recitals. 3. May schedule appointments with individual students for coaching and reinforce techniques taught in class. 4. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS Should possess personal characteristics generally recognized as essential for good public employees including integrity, initiative, dependability, courtesy, good judgment and ability to work cooperatively with others. Knowledge of: -Methods and techniques of piano accompaniment for a variety of types of music and musical application. -Music theory, including harmony and notation. Ability to: -Play advanced piano musical pieces. -Sight-read a variety of music. -Play music in a variety of different keys, with several variations. -Perform various styles (i.e., classical, folk, jazz, etc.) -Provide musical assistance at a variety of times and locations, as schedules and performances dictate. -Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. -Work evening and weekend hours as required.
