This work requires independent judgment, initiative and bookkeeping/budgeting knowledge while completing work accurately and on a timely basis. This is a part-time position of 20 hours per week; flexible scheduling allowed between core work hours Monday --Thursday 7:30am -- 5pm; Friday 7:30am-- 11:30am, based on department need. Essential DutiesProvide ongoing budget counseling to adults, within the guidelines set forth by the Social Security Administration, for the chronically mentally ill (CMI), alcohol and other drug addiction (AODA), and Long-Term Care clientsProblem solve daily with clients and their advocates regarding budget issues and other concernsPrepare, distribute, order and/or verify client funds and monthly expenditures per the budget established for the clientProvide Social Security, clients and other agencies with financial information to update documents/systems in order to maintain client's eligibility for services and benefitsVerify client benefits they are eligible for are received; communicate with appropriate agency if there is a need to apply for additional benefitsAnalyze and interpret information of a complex nature pertaining to the Health and Human Services Department Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with both internal and external customers in person, via phone, email and in writingGather/organize client financial information to assist with income tax and Wisconsin Homestead Credit preparation for the clientKeep current on pertinent county, state, and federal regulations, which pertain to the Representative Payee ProgramAbility to follow complex oral and written instructions in order to fulfill the duties of the positionResponsible to request payments via on line banking as neededResponsible to arrange for deposits into client accountsObtain information from various sources internally and externally in order to complete forms, documents, records, etc.Maintain spreadsheets as needed for the department or for client information Maintain accurate and complete client informationAssist and back up other team members and/or departments as requiredAdhere to the confidentiality policy of the department in addition to Federal and State privacy lawsAnnually update/maintain job process and dutiesAttend required meetings/trainings and those recommended by SupervisorNON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Perform related functions as assigned for Human ServicesMATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED:General office equipmentComputer Minimum Qualifications RequiredEducation and Experience:High School Diploma including or supplemented by accounting/budgeting knowledge, plus two or more years of accounts payable experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job. It is necessary to have experience and knowledge in Word and Excel. This work requires independent judgment, initiative and the ability to work with various personalities/abilities of clients while completing work accurately and on a timely basis.
