The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.Salary Range $87,400.00 - $144,400.00 Target Openings 2 What Is the Opportunity? Specialty Group Captives (SGC) is an important and growing segment within the National Accounts divisions. SGC offers loss responsive programs to larger middle market clients that desire a more holistic approach to risk management than traditional guaranteed cost insurance.Our current portfolio consists of 14 programs. We launched a new group captive for construction risks in 2024 and are expecting to launch another offering for middle market risks in 2025. SGC underwrites some of the most complex program structures within the Travelers enterprise. We are growing and we need smart, enthusiastic, detail oriented and outgoing individuals as we continue to grow Travelers footprint farther into the group captive market.What Will You Do? Be responsible for the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business. The average AE/AEO is responsible for 3-4 captive programs per year. The programs range in size and complexity from 12 to 1,300 insureds and up to $100M in premiums.Underwrite and skillfully negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.Foster and maintain relationships with external partners by regularly meeting with agents and brokers to market and sell Travelers products with a goal of writing and retaining accounts consistent with our risk appetite.Develop and maintain relationships with internal partners within the business unit and across the enterprise to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities.Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.Independently develop and execute agency sales plans and frequently partner with your Managing Director (MD) to develop region/group sales plans.May assist in the training and mentoring of less experienced Account Executives.Travel nationally and internationally required on occasion.Other duties as assigned.What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? Bachelor's degree.Three to five years of relevant underwriting experience with experience in commercial lines.Knowledge of commercial lines underwriting casualty products, the regulatory environment, and the broader insurance market.Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to proactively identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges and analyze available information to make timely decisions in alignment with our risk appetite.Strong communication skills with the ability to successfully negotiate with agents and brokers.CPCU designation.What is a Must Have? 2 years of underwriting experience.What Is in It for You?
