THE POSITION

The Department of Revenue is currently looking to hire an Accountant 1 for Dauphin County. This role entails managing the accounting processes and distributions mandated by Act 71 of 2004 and Act 42 of 2017, which pertain to gaming revenue. The accountant will be tasked with calculating the taxes and assessments owed by each licensed gaming entity, a responsibility that must be fulfilled on every banking day, except during State holidays or official snow days. Do not miss the opportunity to apply today!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will possess a strong understanding of accounting processes and procedures related to the Central Control Computer System (CCCS) and SAP systems. You will be tasked with the daily and bi-monthly responsibilities of generating, reviewing, and reconciling venue-specific reports from the CCCS to ensure accurate invoicing of taxes and assessments in compliance with the regulations set forth in Act 71 of 2004 and Act 42 of 2017. This includes performing daily reconciliations between the CCCS reports and the daily Adjustment worksheet, as well as the invoices generated by the CCCS.

You will adhere to established Gaming Procedures to accurately calculate the taxes and fees owed by each licensee, in accordance with the aforementioned regulations. Daily reconciliations of venue meter reports against CCCS meter data will be a critical part of your duties, requiring effective communication with venues regarding any discrepancies via email and IGT as necessary to finalize reconciliations.

You will be responsible for notifying the Treasury, Comptroller, and licensees of the funds due each day, following the directives of your Supervisor. In instances where email communication is unavailable, alternative methods such as phone or fax must be employed to ensure all parties are informed. Additionally, you will contact licensees to confirm the daily amounts due, verifying receipt of payments as instructed by your Supervisor.

Your role will also involve assisting with account balancing activities, which includes daily access to the Wells Fargo website to ensure that the amounts received in the bank account align with the billed amounts. It is essential to ensure that all transfers are accurately recorded in SAP, and to alert the Division Chief if there are discrepancies between the received amounts and the invoiced totals, particularly if all funds are not collected by 10:45 AM.

Finally, you will prepare the necessary documentation to facilitate the transfer of funds from the licensee to the Treasury for your Supervisor's review, ensuring that all entries are accurately recorded in SAP. You will also reconcile administrative accounts and prepare invoices to bill licensees for administrative costs associated with the Gaming Board, State Police, Attorney General, and Revenue, based on budgets approved by the General Assembly.
